Dr. Dre looses violation of trademark lawsuit

A California judge tossed out Dr. Dre's claims that Death Row Records violated his trademark and publicity with its re-release of his classic album The Chronic.

After fourteen years since the hit release of "The Chornic", it was re-released by the current owners of Death Row Record. Dr. Dre stated the release of "The Chronic Re-Lit", violated his trademark. The judge of the case applied the "Monty Python" rule. This comes from the 1976 case where a defendant extensively edited the TV comedy series in order to broadcast on TV.  The judge ruled that any alterations, where minor and inconsequential.
