Alicia Keys and AK Worldwide announced today that Alexis Tirado has landed the highly-coveted Head Blogger position for Keys' soon-to-be-launched website IAAS.com (I Am A Super Woman). In April, Alicia Keys partnered with Monster.com, the leading job matching engine, to launch a national pursuit for the Head Blogger of IAAS.com.
Tirado previously served as an online editor at Martha Stewart, where she increased total page views by 500% and spearheaded the "Dreamers Into Doers" project online as well as for Martha Stewart's radio channel. As a freelance writer, the New Jersey native has contributed to Latina, Village Voice, and Time Out New York.
"We really loved Alexis from the very beginning, her personality shined through immediately, as did her spirit— after a full day of work at the Black Ball, she still found time to volunteer at a local soup kitchen, which really impressed us," said Alicia Keys. "Monster was a fantastic partner in helping us find Alexis, who will help us shape a smart, dynamic and fun new platform that will celebrate and champion the voices of women."
"Alexis has strong experience, and has the resourcefulness and drive to excel; Alicia made a great choice," said Ted Gilvar, Global Chief Marketing Officer at Monster.com, who participated in the Advisory Panel. "Working with AK Worldwide was great for Monster because it allowed us to demonstrate the matching power of our 6Sense search technology on a huge scale."
Said Alexis Tirado, "People have told me that dream jobs don't exist but today I can defy that statement. As Langston Hughes once wrote, 'Hold fast to your dreams, for without them life is a broken-winged bird that cannot fly.' When Alicia Keys launched her search with Monster.com for a head blogger, I read the job description and knew I had to apply for it! Blogging about inspiring people? Bringing positive news to Super Women everywhere? Initiating a powerful discussion? What's not to love about this job?"
The high profile search elicited a massive response from highly qualified candidates; over 8,500 job applications poured in with approximately 300,000 visitors to the job posting. American Airlines flew the top 10 applicants to New York to meet the selection committee and then flew the final three applicants out to Keep a Child Alive's Black Ball in the UK for the final interview with Alicia Keys.
Monster partnered with AK Worldwide to help fill the Head Blogger position by providing use of its 6Sense precision search technology, narrowing down the selection from thousands of candidates to the most qualified ones.
IAAS.com (I Am A Super Woman) is set to launch in the fall of 2010 as a premier optimistic news and blogging source designed to empower, motivate, and captivate women everywhere. Beginning today, fans can log on to the home page and sign up to be a part of the beta testing phase. IAAS plans to grow into a full scale, editorial site and community featuring notable contributors and prompting unique discussions for the modern super woman. IAAS.com is the first major undertaking for AK Worldwide, Inc. the company Alicia Keys created for her ventures developing outside her career in music.
