The Southern Entertainment Awards will be releasing the Official 2011 SEA Ballot to media outlets in attendance during the Memphis Hip Hop Expo which is scheduled to take place September 3-4 at the Memphis Cook Convention Center in Downtown Memphis, TN.
The Southern Entertainment Awards, an independent awards show which focuses on those in a number of Industries ranging from music to fashion to nightclubs in the South, will be revealing the nominees which where nominated by fans and the Industry.
Nominations for the SEAs take place from May 1st until August 15th, with voting originally taking place from September 1st to December 15th. Submissions are still being accepted for the 2011 Southern Entertainment Awards at http://www.southernentawards.com/ballot/nominate.html.
In 2010 the Southern Entertainment Awards made a move to Memphis, TN after being held in Tunica, MS for the past four years. According to Janiro Hawkins, in 2009, the staff made the decision to move due to the city's desire to host the event.
"Memphis has always been very supportive of the Southern Entertainment Awards in the past and we felt that it was the right time to move our event to Memphis in hopes to bring more of the music community together for a common cause. That cause is for the advancement, education and celebration of Southern Entertainment," stated Janiro Hawkins, co-founder of the SEAs in a statement.
Nominations for the "2011 Southern Entertainment Awards" are in over 70 categories. Once the nominations for the award categories have been announced, fans will have the opportunity to vote for their favorite nominated artists, businesses, DJs and more.
The Memphis Hip-Hop Weekend, produced by MemphisRap.com, takes place from September 2-5 and will consist of the Memphis Hip Hop Expo, Industry conferences and panels, celebrity ball games such as baseball and basketball featuring the Memphis Grizzlies Dance Team and Dunk Team, an Industry Meet N Greet Networking Mixer, "Hip-Hop Art, Ink & Fashion Show," "South In Yo Mouth Food Taster", Pro BMX bike riders show and more.
Performances for the Memphis Hip Hop Expo currently include Hypnotized Minds' Lil Wyte, La Chat (Dime-A-Dozen Ent), Gangsta Boo (Drum Squad), Pro BMX bike rider Ricky Moseley and the Misled BMX Showteam, DJ Zirk ft. 2 Thick, MemphisRap.com Showcase winner Teflon Don (Soulstar Ent/SODMG/Palm Tree Ent), Kristyle (Drum Squad), Partee (Gain Green Entertainment), Allie Baby (Drum Squad), Yung Kee, Miscellaneous, Miss B Hollywood, Hip Hop Violinist Lila, Mr Del (Holy South/Universal), 6 year-old rising rap artist P-Nutt and Lil Chris, with more acts to be announced soon.
